It seems that its construction is due to the emperor Hadrian. The Itálica amphitheater is located north of the city taking advantage of the natural valley that existed. It assumes a capacity of about 25,000 spectators and its concrete structure was completed with ashlars and marble plates. The amphitheater was used for the so-called "blood" spectacles: gladiatorial combats, "death" staging of historical war episodes, hunting and confrontations between different animals.
